Foodie Fun At The Good Food Show

Sorry I’ve been a little quiet lately.  I went on a little trip this weekend!  I travelled all the way to Manchester to stay with my fab friend Heather (she has a truly gorgeous baking page called Hevz Tasty Treats – if you’re on FB do check it out) 🙂

I’d been waiting for this weekend to arrive for a very long time (well since November when I booked my travel tickets!) and I couldn’t have been more excited.  When Heather met me at the airport on Friday night we we were so close to The Trafford Centre we just had to pay a little visit! It’s a massive shopping centre filled with the most fabulous shops including Selfridges which I’d never been in before. Of course as soon as we walked in my eyes were immediately drawn straight to all the beautiful Kitchen Aids – I do own one and I love it but it’s still nice to drool over the gorgeous new colours, right?

So once we arrived at Heather’s we were sensible and had a fairly early night because we our alarms were set very early for the next morning.  We were heading to Birmingham NEC for the BBC Good Food Show and a little foodie friend meet up!

This was my first time visiting the show and I loved every minute.  It was my Birthday on the actual day of the show and it was a perfect way to celebrate!

My intention was to take hundreds of pictures, but in all honesty I was so over-whelmed and distracted by everything that was going on I completely forgot! But here are a few delights I did mange to capture on camera….

Look at this amazing hog roast! The smell was out of this world!
I had no reason for taking this picture other than the fact that it looked so pretty!
All these brownies to choose from…heaven!
Here’s the lovely Jo with her new Bamix! Jo has a brilliant blog I’ve mentioned before called Jo Blogs Jo Bakes. It’s going from strength to strength and I’m so happy for her!
Here’s another picture of some of my lovely foodie friends..from left to right Me, Emma, Hevz, Liz, Karen, Lorna

So there we have it. There was a lot of wandering around (so glad I wore comfy shoes!) and sampling all the delicious goodies the show had to offer including some of the best ice cream I have ever tasted in my life from Salcombe Dairy. I tried the passion fruit crush which was a cross between an ice cream and a sorbet.  Heaven! I pray for the day this wonderful Company start selling their beautiful ice cream nationwide!

I had a wonderful time at the show but for me the best part by far was finally meeting some really lovely ladies.  It was so nice to spend the afternoon with like-minded people…I’m more obsessed with food than anyone else in my family and I swear I can see their eyes start to glaze over if I start going on about food!!  Everyone was even more lovely and friendly than I imagined they would be.  It was so worth travelling over 300 miles for…I’d do it again in a heartbeat 🙂

  1. Aw Nic, what a lovely write up! And I couldn’t agree more – it was truly lovely to meet you and see the other girls again. We need to start looking for the very next excuse to meet up again 😀
