This easy Chocolate Magija Mousse with blackberries is a rich, indulgent dessert that chocolate fans will love!
This is a sponsored post in collaboration with Magija.
I think we’ve *just* about settled back into the back to school routine now. The new term begins early here in Scotland – we’ve been back for a month already!
Being a Mum of both teenage boys and a toddler, I’m always on the go.
I’ll freely admit to having a stash of chocolate hidden away for…energy boosting emergencies!! (Shhhhh, don’t tell the kids!)
You all know I can’t resist a chocolate treat, and when I discovered these Magija chocolate dessert bars, it was love at first bite.
what is Magija?
Magija is a Lithuanian chocolate dessert bar with a tangy curd cheese filling that is reminisent of cheesecake.
The filling is made by turning whole milk into a set curd. The curd is then specially made light and fluffy before adding Cacao – no fake chocolate “flavouring” here! – and other natural ingredients.
The chocolate curd filling tastes incredibly smooth, tangy and is scattered with chocolate chips which add a lovely contrast. The whole bar is encased in a crisp dark chocolate shell and contains absolutely no artificial ingredients or preservatives.
We’ve all heard about the health benefits of good dark chocolate, right? So a Magija bar is much better for you than a lot of other chocolate bars on the market.
As I’m sure you can imagine, the Magija chocolate bar is absolutely delicious. They taste a lot more expensive than they actually are and the combination of crisp, dark chocolate and smooth, creamy cheese is quite irresistible.
I’m quite a big fan of any kind of chocolate that has been chilled, so these bars are my idea of heaven.
They really are a wonderful mid afternoon pick me up/evening pudding with a plate of fresh berries on the side….or as a special treat with your mid morning coffee!
It certainly beats a plain biscuit any day of the week….so go on….treat yourself!
As delicious as the Magija bar is on its own, I couldn’t stop dreaming about using it in some kind of dessert – and that is when this chocolate Magija Mousse with Blackberries was born!
This easy, almost instant, egg free chocolate mousse is a must try for chocolate lovers – it makes a wonderful dinner party pudding that takes hardly any effort at all, but will wow your guests!
You can make this pudding in advance if it’s easier – cover the chocolate mousse and leave in the fridge for up to 2 days.
Don’t add the blackberries until you’re ready to serve the mousse, or the juices from the fruit will run into the mousse.
How to make chocolate Magija Mousse with blackberries
(Ingredient amounts and detailed instructions are in the recipe card at the bottom of the post)
Place dark chocolate, icing sugar, vanilla extract and double cream in a heavy based saucepan.
Place on a low heat and let the chocolate melt, stirring until smooth. Remove from the heat, pour into a shallow bowl and once it has come to room temperature, place in the fridge to chill.
When the chocolate is cold, pour in the remaining cream and whisk until the mixture has thickened and is light and creamy. Fold in a 45g chopped bar of Magija and pipe or spoon into serving glasses.
If you want to try Magija for yourself (and you really, really should!) you can find them in the chilled cabinet of the ethnic section in Sainsbury’s, Asda, Tesco, independent food shops and regional food stores such as Budgens.
It’s amazing value for money – a 45g Magija bar costs between 50-75p depending on retailer promotions.
